The Wesley College Alumni (formerly the Old Boys’ Union and Old Girls’ Union) has a long and distinguished history shaped by more than a century of service, community, and shared identity. The Old Boys’ Union was founded in 1901, followed by the Old Girls’ Union in 1930, each flourishing through annual dinners, sporting fixtures, cultural clubs, fundraising events, and the creation of bursary and benevolent funds that provided vital support to pupils in need. Despite periods of inactivity, both Unions were repeatedly revived by committed members, expanding their reach with regional and international branches and contributing significantly to College life, including major milestones such as the 1945 Centenary celebrations.
Their parallel missions ultimately led to the establishment of the Past Pupils’ Union (PPU) in 1988, when both Unions formally amalgamated under a unified Constitution. The PPU served as a central body overseeing alumni activities, managing historic funds such as the OBU Music Scholarship, the OBU and OGU Bursary Funds, and the OGU Benevolent Fund, and later administering substantial legacies such as the Doreen McDonnell bequest to create additional bursaries.
Modernised in 2018 as Wesley College Alumni (WCA), the organisation continues this proud legacy today by supporting College initiatives, fostering lifelong community among past pupils, and hosting popular annual events including the October Dinner and the summer golf outing.
